WAMENA, Nies World TV – The Smart Papua School in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains, held a meeting to evaluate teaching and learning activities with teachers and school staff. The meeting took place in the Multipurpose Room of the Logopaga Public Elementary School Building on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. WIT.
The meeting discussed several challenges faced by the school, particularly the impact of the Jayawijaya Regency Education Office's withdrawal of several non-OAP teachers to urban areas.
The founder of the Smart Papua School, Nies Tabuni, stated that the withdrawal of several teachers had an impact on the teaching and learning process. This situation was exacerbated because the school is located in a remote area of Jayawijaya Regency, where access is dependent on security and road conditions.
"We are experiencing difficulties in serving students due to the withdrawal of non-OAP teachers by the Jayawijaya Regency Education Office. Security disturbances have also impacted teaching and learning because our school is located on the outskirts of Jayawijaya," said Nies Tabuni after the meeting.
According to Nies, several non-OAP teachers who previously taught at the Smart Papua School have been transferred to urban areas. To ensure the continuity of educational activities, the school and the foundation decided to reorganize the management.
The reorganization includes the management of the Papua Cerdas School, junior high school, kindergarten, and early childhood education (PAUD). Papua Cerdas School itself is a private school under the auspices of the foundation.
In the meeting, the school and foundation administrators agreed to appoint teachers deemed to demonstrate high loyalty and commitment to the implementation of education at the school. Based on the decision of the foundation leadership and the church leader of Logopaga Village, Lewi Alya, S.T., was appointed Principal of Papua Cerdas School.
"The steps we have taken are to continue running the school and reorganize the management of Papua Cerdas School, junior high school, kindergarten, and early childhood education (PAUD). Praise God, we have appointed Lewi Alya, S.T., as Principal of Papua Cerdas School," he said.
Nies hopes the reorganization will strengthen school management and ensure the continuity of the teaching and learning process for students.
He also expressed his hope that the students at Papua Cerdas School will continue learning and contribute to the community and the region in the future.
"We hope our students will continue learning. Among our many students, we pray that some will become doctors, regents, nurses, and even pastors. They are expected to lead this country in the future," said Nies.
The Papua Cerdas School ensures that teaching and learning activities will continue despite the limited teaching staff. The school also hopes for support from various parties so that the educational process in the outlying areas of Jayawijaya Regency can continue.
